Admission Requirements for Applicants

  • All prospective students must have an MA’s or MS’s degree in linguistics, applied linguistics, communication or any major relevant to languages with a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.00.
  • All prospective Thai and international students must demonstrate competency in English before being admitted to the program.

The application includes

– Copy of academic transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate programs attended
– Copy of Thai identification card/identification card for government employee
– The document that prove for changing name /copy of marriage document (if any)
– The application form (students must download the online form: Appendix A5, from the website http://admission.swu.ac.th)
– One Letter of recommendation from the employers (if any, students must download the online form: Appendix A6, from the website http://admission.swu.ac.th)
– Two letters of recommendation from the advisor at graduate level (students must download the online form: Appendix A8, from the website http://admission.swu.ac.th)
– English Proficiency Requirement:

• TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): minimum scores required: 500 (173 for computer-based; 61 for Internet-based)
• IELTS (International English Language Testing System): minimum scores required: 5.0
Note: TOEFL/IELTS results will be valid for two years after the date the test is taken.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements for the B.A. Program

Students seeking admission into the B.A. program should contact the website http://admission.swu.ac.th

Admission Requirements for Applicants

  • Applicants can be Thai or international students who have graduated or are about to graduate this year from an international program in Thailand certificated by the Ministry of Education OR from an international high school.
  • Applicants must have a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.75 from grades 10-12 based on a 4.0 scale. In case applicant is still in grade 12, only the first semester of grade 12 will be counted.
  • Applicants who have a TOEFL score with a minimum of 50 (IBT); or a minimum IELTS score of 4; or a minimum TOEIC score of 450 will be exempted from the English exam.
  • Applicants with a minimum score of 900 on the SAT will be exempted from the Professional and Academic Aptitude test.
  • International and overseas students must be able to demonstrate competence in at least 5 subjects from the IGCSE or GCSE, or a minimum grade of C for GCE “O” levels.
